About WCDC

West Coast Dog and Cat Rescue began as a program to find homes for cats from Lane County Animal Regulation Authority using PetSmart as an off-site adoption center. In 2007, it expanded its mission to help both cats and dogs from all over the community.

WCDC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since being established, WCDC has saved over 300 cats and found them wonderful loving homes. In February 2008, WCDC launched its canine adoptions program and has found homes for many dogs. Thanks to donations from the public and the dedication from the organization's wonderful volunteers, the future is bright.

Our belief is that we must educate the public in the following areas:

  • The necessity of spaying and neutering
  • The importance of adoption
  • The humane treatment of animals
  • How to deal with feral cats through TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return)

Only by working together can we eliminate the need to euthanize animals due to lack of space in existing county shelters and other facilities. WCDC works with humane societies, many animal rescue groups, the public and government animal services agencies to find the animals a permanent home through our adoption process. We provide all needed medical care, disease testing, and vaccinations to ensure a successful adoption. As a no-kill program, we fully support and practice the philosophy of saving all adoptable and treatable animals.

As a non-profit organization, any money raised that does not go towards our overhead will be put back into the organization's general fund to be used for the sole purpose of helping WCDC save as many animal lives as possible.
